Attending a London Conference

What is a conference?

If there is something you’re interested in, whether privately or professionally, then there is certain to be a conference associated with it - a day in which like-minded people sharing similar interests come together to share, explore, learn, and debate.

What is a conference? Actually, a conference is very similar to a convention. In fact, a convention may be deemed a type of conference. Conferences are usually related to business, however, and conventions are more often than not linked to fandom and hobbies.

London, as the capital of the UK, is undoubtedly the centre for many of the country’s conferences. Upcoming, at the time of writing this article, were 1404 conferences, just in the remainder of June 2018 alone. These include conferences for scientists, educators, writers, academics, beauticians, students, salespeople, and more.

If you work in a professional sphere, then an invitation or decision to attend a conference should not be taken lightly. Certainly, there is a lot of enjoyment to be had at a conference, and it is time away from the workplace, but it’s also a time to meet your peers, colleagues from within your profession, and to make useful contacts. The networking aspect of a conference is something that certainly should not be underestimated.

For this reason, booking one of daybreakhotels.com day rooms in London on offer, can help relieve the stresses of this important day. Although you’ll probably be heading home after the conference, refreshing in between can be a good way to keep calm, confident and, vitally, clean - you can shower after all those introductions, and even change your shirt, blouse, socks, etc. if need be. This way, you can re-enter the conference and meet new people knowing you’ll make a great first impression, while others may be getting tired, sweaty, and beginning to slump.

Some of the conferences coming up in London over the coming months include Ignite on 10th July, for anyone in the business-to-business marketing realm; the UK Global Disability Summit on the 24th; and the World Congress on Nursing from the 13th August.

Whichever conference you’re attending, do also remember to take business cards, and plenty of them. There is nothing worse than losing out on a contact just because you haven’t any cards left. With this, as with most things, it’s better to over-prepare than under-prepare.
